Contact aba@culturalcollaborative.org for details. ..A JOURNEY HOME THE PAN AFRICAN HISTORICAL THEATER FESTIVAL-PANAFEST The Pan African Historical Theatre Festival (PANAFEST) celebrates the traditions and cultures of Africa in GHANA and is an event held every two years for Africans and people of African descent. The idea of PANAFEST is to promote and enhance unity-Pan Africanism,as well as development of the continent of Africa.Activities that mark the event are performances and work in the areas of theatre,drama,music and poetry among others. It features conferences on African arts,history and African relationship with the rest of the world. Many see the event as a pilgrimage to the motherland,a gathering of Africans to celebrate illustrious Pan Africanists like Dr William Burghardt Du Bois,George Padmore,Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and others.It coincides with a pre-emancipation day candle light vigil to commemorate Ghana's commitment to the total liberation of sons and daughters of African descent. The climax is a colorful durbar of chiefs and people and tour of various places of interest and a walk through the slave routes,monuments and sites.
